At WayStone, our 24-Hour Emergency Assistance service provides immediate support for individuals living in the community who experience an unexpected situation or crisis. This service gives peace of mind to clients, families, and case managers, knowing that reliable help is available day or night, 365 days a year.

What Is 24-Hour Emergency Assistance?

24-Hour Emergency Assistance provides on-call support for people who need help right away because of an unexpected event, crisis, or urgent problem.

This may include:

  • Telephone support – connecting with trained staff who can provide guidance or next steps
  • In-person help – staff coming to your home or community location if needed
  • Crisis intervention – de-escalating situations, ensuring safety, contacting emergency services
  • Problem solving & support – addressing urgent needs until ongoing services can resume

This service is designed for short-term, emergency situations — not regular daily support.

Who Can Use 24-Hour Emergency Assistance?

This service is for individuals who:

  • Live independently in the community (alone, with family, or with roommates)
  • Do not receive 24-hour staff support in their home
  • May need urgent help during a crisis, health issue, or unexpected situation

Night Supervision = staff stay awake overnight in the home to provide ongoing monitoring.

24-Hour Emergency Assistance = staff are on call to respond when a crisis occurs, either by phone or in person.
Who pays for this service?
Most clients qualify through Medical Assistance (Medicaid) under the 245D Waiver.
Can this service be combined with others?
Yes — many people use 24-Hour Emergency Assistance along with Homemaking, IHS, ICLS, or Respite services.
